LASER ACUPUNCTURE!

Ever had laser acupuncture? Well even if you haven’t there is a great opportunity coming up for any practitioners out there!

A lovely friend of mine has been helping patients at a place called Laser Quit in Bondi Junction. It’s a laser based acupuncture practice to help people quit smoking.

Tanya is moving on and there will be a position available there. If you’re interested to learn more, have your qualification and want a job working with cutting edge technology and acupuncture give her a call or email.

Helio

In Sydney did you know there is a warehouse tucked away in Chippendale stocked with electrostatic ion absorbers made by NASA? You can buy acupuncture needles not coated in silicone and you can purchase liquid moxa?

Welcome to my visit to Helio. If you do acupuncture or have studied in NSW you will have heard of this place.

So lets tell you a bit about what Helio is, why it’s so popular for Chinese medicine supplies, where exactly it is and show you an inside look!

Firstly they are at 93 Shepherd Street, Chippendale, Sydney, NSW 2008. It’s easy to find, but a little tucked away. Also they don’t have a website, I don’t think, but they are affiliated to the main company in America: http://www.heliomed.com/ProductOverview.aspx  however all the supplies are here.

Tony, who runs it in Sydney, is  more than happy to help and he tells me “he will match any price”!

This is a friend Peter showing me around the awesomeness.

They have all sorts of cool products. From your everyday needles to the brand that doesn't have silicone on the tip, for smoother insertion!

They have Chinese style needles, cluster packs, with and without guide tubes and all sorts of other different styles. In fact they have walls of needles ready for you.
And they have walls of herb stock too, Pills and granules
Finally this was my favourite product: no smoke moxa. Here we have a tincture mainly made of Ai Ye (Mugwart) that you drop on the body. Instead of using burning moxa. No smoke moxa. Pretty clever.
Rock up and say hi and they will be more than happy to show you around or call them 1800 026 161

Acupuncture for ear infection

I was inspired to get treatment after I returned from China.

As promised here are some pictures of acupuncture treatment I had just before the new year for an ear infection.

The special points used are the ones on the leg associated with damp in the body (distal from the issue).
In China patients get acupuncture everyday so I booked myself in for as much acupuncture as time and budget would allow. Three times a week.

I ventured to the student clinic at “The Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine”. They are a small independent college in China town. Here my friend Tina tried out some nice techniques on me.
Luckily enough she also threw in some head and face massage, of which she is an expert. Thanks Tina for all the TLC treatment.

Afterwards my ear would feel like it was unblocking and popping sounds would occur. This was very encouraging for my long standing problem.

Unfortunately half way through my weeks of treatment a well meaning doctor decided to water syringe my ear to clean it out and I thought it might be better than before. Unfortunately getting water in my ear was excruciatingly painful and put me back to square one with my issue!

Anyway I haven’t managed to resolve the situation yet. I have been investigating and my next step is to try out a large dose of Longdan Xiegan Wan. I was told to double the normal prescription by one practitioner. Keep you posted!
