A friend of mine came in for treatment at the clinic a while ago.
It was a very interesting case of a person with ADD (Attention Deficient Disorder), OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and Tourettes Syndrome.
They were on meds. One was Haloperidol (Haloperidol is a neuroleptic and a butyrophenone. Due to its strong central antidopaminergic action, it is classified as a highly potent neuroleptic). And prozac for OCD.
My friend came in as things where going ok but they still had jitters and muscle spasms towards the end of the day. When things got stressful an always predominant phantom nose itch would become worse.
I could see some dryness and redness around the nose from rubbing.
Wind (Chinese Element version) in the body creates itch. In most cases this is a physical red itch or dryness in the skin, for example. In this case it was a phantom itch but I still applied the basic idea of Liver Qi Stagnation and treatment by calming the Liver Wind to relax the muscles and tendons and to treat wind in the skin.
I kept track of my friends signs and symptoms and in the next three days they reported a large reduction in jitters and nose itching. She put in an order for 3 more weeks worth by the end of the week.

Bai Shao Yao 10g added to calm Liver rising
Gan Cao 10g added to harmonise the whole formula, also indicated to stop spams

Well these are the branch signs and symptoms. Treating the root cuase could be ideal. Another friend pointed out that earth, spleen and stomach could be treated. The emotion of obsession is linked to these organs for example. Hows your acu going?
