Ehealth (Electronic health records) is a $500 million dollar government funded national scheme started in July 2012. I went to the information session last night for health professionals at St. Vincents Hospital, Darlinghurst. About 50 people turned up, mainly doctors.
I was disappointed by the general atmosphere. For example the first question asked involved how we could be sued as practitioners etc...
Sharing health information securely is a big step to efficiency with patients and recorded information tracking. Making life easier for everybody with this secure database.
Every practitioner is accountable for their notes with professional responsibility. That is a bare minimum of care! So I see every advantage of that transparency and openness for patients and practioners!
